The second annual childhood literacy event will bring children of the community together for an afternoon of story time, fun activities and books! Taking place at Opelousas's LeVieux Village, each house on the property will be a reading station, complete with a rocking chair, and manned by local officials, volunteer readers and costumed characters. The free event will provide free books to each child in attendance, and other give-aways. Sponsors are needed for each reading site, and in-kind donations are welcome!
The Early Learning Network for St. Landry Parish, also known as Ready Start, will be hosting this event dedicated to and promoting early learning. Proceeds from sponsorships will assist with training, materials or other programs under the Ready Start initiative.
